Starting from the 2023-24 school year, Valley View School District U365 has implemented new requirements regarding physical examinations and immunizations for certain grade levels. These changes aim to ensure the health and well-being of all students attending schools within the district.
According to the new policy, all pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, sixth- and ninth-grade students, as well as students new to the district, must provide their school nurse with a current physical examination and the required immunization forms no later than October 16. The physical examination must be dated within the 12 months before the school start date, which falls between August 17, 2022, and August 17, 2023.
Proof of having received the meningococcal vaccine is also mandatory for entry into the district. For sixth-grade students, the first dose of the vaccine must be received on or after their 11th birthday. On the other hand, twelfth-grade students must have received the second dose of the vaccine on or after their 16th birthday, with at least an eight-week interval after the first dose. However, if the first dose was received at the age of 16 or older, only one dose is required.
It’s important to note that no proof of immunity will be accepted; the required vaccine doses must be completed as per the specified guidelines outlined by the district.
Failure to submit the necessary documents to the school nurse by October 16 will result in the exclusion of the student from attending school until the required documents are received. Questions and concerns regarding these new requirements can be addressed by visiting the Valley View School District website or contacting the school nurse directly.
Please be aware that appointment cards will not be considered as valid proof of a physical examination or immunization. For more detailed information about these requirements, please visit the Student Health Information page on the Valley View School District website.
