Health Canada has recently issued a recall notice for double-walled stainless steel children’s cups under the CUPKIN brand. The warning comes after it was discovered that these cups may contain high levels of lead near the bottom seal, posing a significant health risk, particularly to children. Exposure to lead can lead to various serious health effects, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, and adverse impacts on the heart and immune system. In extreme cases, lead poisoning can even result in death.
The recall specifically involves CUPKIN 8 oz (236.6 ml) and 12 oz (354.9 ml) double-walled stainless steel children’s cups sold in pairs and available in 12 different color combinations, each including a matching colored straw. These cups were manufactured in China and have been sold in Canada from January 2018 to March 2023.
While there have been no reported incidents or injuries in Canada related to these products, Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the cups and reach out to the CUPKIN Company for a full refund. It is crucial to ensure the safety of children by removing these potentially harmful products from circulation.
It is important to be aware of product recalls and take appropriate action when necessary. Keeping informed about potential hazards is essential in protecting ourselves and our loved ones from harm. If you have purchased any CUPKIN double-walled stainless steel children’s cups, please exercise caution and follow the instructions provided by Health Canada to ensure the safety of those around you.
