Caregiver Charged with Rape at Ohio Home Healthcare Facility

A caregiver at an unnamed home healthcare company in Ohio has been charged with the rape of a woman in his care, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest came after a supervisor at the healthcare company reported the incident to authorities. The victim, who relies on around-the-clock care, disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by the caregiver.

An investigation was promptly launched, which led to the identification of the suspect, 56-year-old Ronald Pace. Pace was located and taken in for questioning at a residence in Rosemount. Following the interrogation, he was charged with two counts of rape, each of which is a first-degree felony.

The victim’s vulnerability is particularly alarming in this case, as she was completely dependent on the caregiver for assistance with daily tasks. This emphasizes the importance of proper supervision and protection of vulnerable individuals receiving home healthcare services.

Ronald Pace is currently being held at the Scioto County jail on a $200,000 bond. The sheriff’s office has not released any additional information about the case, including the name of the home healthcare company involved.

Instances of abuse or negligence of recipients of home healthcare services are deeply concerning and should be treated with the utmost seriousness. Comprehensive background checks, ongoing monitoring, and well-implemented protocols for reporting and addressing any instances of misconduct are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals under the care of home healthcare providers.

Although it is distressing to hear about such incidents, it is crucial that victims come forward and report any abuse or assault they have experienced. By doing so, they contribute to holding offenders accountable, preventing further harm, and safeguarding the integrity of the home healthcare industry.
