Former AHA Board Member and entrepreneur, Michael J. Charlton, has been appointed as the President and CEO of the AtlantiCare Health System. Charlton, who has been serving as the Interim President and CEO since June 1, 2023, brings with him solid experience and a strong connection to the community. In his new role, Charlton will be responsible for overseeing AtlantiCare’s operations, development, and strategic growth.
Having served on the AtlantiCare Board of Directors for over 14 years, including 6 years as Board Chair, Charlton has a deep understanding of the organization and its mission. He also has diverse experience in business and healthcare leadership, having been a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association and still serving on a national committee focused on the healthcare workforce.
Charlton holds a B.S. in Healthcare Administration and Organizational Leadership from the University of Louisville, as well as a Masters in Healthcare Leadership from Brown University. He is known for his collaborative and innovative approach to leadership, advocating for policies and programs that address healthcare and societal issues impacting patients and caregivers.
In his new position, Charlton aims to prioritize patient-centered care and work tirelessly with the team at AtlantiCare to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the community. With a strong belief in the legacy of AtlantiCare, Charlton is determined to guide the organization through the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare.
