A man was apprehended by East Lyme police on Saturday after an incident of shoplifting at a local pharmacy. The suspect, identified as Arnold Ludd, stole over $4,300 worth of pharmacy products from a CVS store on Chesterfield Road. Arnold Ludd, a 50-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York, was found to have active arrest warrants from Allentown and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as well as Warren County, New Jersey, and Monroe, Connecticut. He was taken into custody for larceny in the 5th degree and interfering with an officer. It was later discovered that Ludd had stolen various medications, including Mucinex, Claritin, Zyrtec, Flonase, Allegra, and Nexium, which were valued at approximately $4,360. The stolen items were recovered by the police during their investigation.
Ludd provided the police with a false name upon his arrest, adding to the charges against him. He is currently being held on a $15,000 bond and is expected to appear at New London Superior Court on Monday.
