Wedding Guests Suspected to Have Suffered Food Poisoning at Melbourne Reception

At least 40 guests who attended a wedding reception in inner Melbourne on Saturday night are believed to be battling food poisoning. The celebration took place at The Park, a reception venue in Albert Park, where the guests consumed chicken and pork before becoming violently ill on Sunday. Both children as young as four and elderly individuals were among those affected, and some have been hospitalized.

The Victorian Department of Health has confirmed that they are investigating the incident as a gastroenteritis outbreak among the wedding guests. They are collaborating with the Port Phillip Council to identify the source of the outbreak and implement necessary infection prevention and control measures.

In response to the incident, The Park’s venue manager stated that they are also engaged in investigating the cause of the guests’ illnesses. Additionally, they have received confirmation from the council that they can continue operations after undertaking a precautionary deep clean.
