Suyog Diagnostics launches kit for dengue assessment

EHM News Bureau - Mumbai

For the first time in India, Suyog Diagnostics Private Limited has launched the Immunocomb II Dengue Igm and IgG Bispot kit. The serological methods have been developed to assess laboratory confirmation of dengue.

The utilisation of the Immunocomb II system, in simultaneous detection of the presence of Dengue IgM and IgG provides a presumptive diagnosis of dengue infection. This includes differentiation between primary and secondary infection from a single serum or plasma specimen. This test is a solid-phase Enzyme Immuno Assay (EIA), based on Immuno capture principle.

The method detects all four sero types, is easy to perform, helps viral interpretation and does not require instruments. The accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of this method are high.

Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne infection, is a major global epidemiological problem affecting public health in 100 countries in the tropical and sub-tropical regions worldwide. Dengue is an arbovirus, belonging to the genus Flavivirus. Four distinct sero types, closely related antigenically, have been defined: Dengue-1, Dengue-2, Dengue-3 and Dengue-4.

The virus is transmitted by mosquito vectors, primarily, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. The primary infection may last for a week or so. The secondary infection, can be fatal due to Dengue Shock Syndrome.
