CAP Infominar 2009 at Medicall
An 'infominar' on College of American Pathologists Laboratory
Accreditation Programme (CAP-LAP)
In this economic melt down, India is expected to receive more and more medical
tourists, as western countries reduce their healthcare budget. In order to cater
to this growing demand, hospitals and laboratories have to be geared up by getting
accredited and certified by appropriate bodies. CAP certification helps the
laboratories improve their performance as well as attract western customers.
In order to spread the awareness about laboratory practice, MEDICALL is organising
a laboratory equipment expo called MEDICALLAB at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai.
During MEDICALLAB, an 'infominar' on CAP accreditation process is organised
on August 1, 2009. The organisers have invited CAP-certified pathologists, so
that first hand knowledge can be acquired for LAP.
The programme will be useful for all laboratories planning for accreditation.
The programme is kept short and crisp so that there is more time available for
interaction.
Lab directors, pathologists, microbiologists, biochemists, molecular biology
scientists, lab managers, quality managers, hospital administrators, medical
superintendents, pharma research labs and other lab professionals should participate.
The topics are 'Introduction and Overview of College of American Pathologists
Lab Accreditation Programme', by Dr Selwyn J Baptist, Chairman, Department of
Pathology, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, New Jersey; 'CAP Accreditation
- Hospital Laboratory Director's Perspective' by Dr TF Ashavaid, Consultant
Biochemist and Head, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Joint Director - Research,
PD Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai; 'CAP Accreditation - Local CAP Inspector's
Perspective' by Dr PD Sawant, Consultant in Laboratory Medicine, Sawant Consultancy
Services Mumbai and 'CAP Accreditation - Reference Laboratory Director's Perspective'
by Dr Shravan Subramanyam, Director - Operations & Business Development,
Ehrlich Laboratory, Chennai.
