Nanavati Launches ACRO
Dr Balabhai Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai has recently launched
its state-of-the-art Advanced Centre for Radiation Oncology (ACRO).
Said Micah Joseph, Director-Administration, Nanavati Hospital, "ACRO is
part of the continuous development of Nanavati's 27 years of radiotherapy. It
has been designed to be extremely patient friendly, with a comforting environment,
highly trained staff and pleasant interiors." Healing and soothing colours
are used for hospital walls; there is ample space available for relaxation.
There is a meditation room for patients and relatives, as well as a health café.
The internet facility is provided for cancer patients who want to connect themselves
with their close ones. ACRO has also launched a cancer support group for patients
where meetings are held among the patients and experts are available to clarify
the concerns of the patients as well.
The aim behind launching the ACRO was to set up a cancer centre within Nanavati
Hospital so that all branches of oncology are made available under one
roof. ACRO strives to keep up with the technological changes in the world of
oncology. "This centre has the latest Elekta Precise Digital Linear Accelerator
with Intensity Modulated Radiation and Image Guidance. In addition to bringing
in the best technology and ambience to the patients, Nanavati has deliberately
kept the cost of the therapy to be the lowest available in the city so as to
be able to reach out to maximum individuals," he added.
