Perot Systems Sets Shop in Tamil Nadu
The Company claims to be the first to set up an infrastructure
solutions set-up in Noida
Perot Systems, the second largest solution providers for the healthcare vertical
in the US, having a $1.25 billion business in the healthcare industry, recently
set shop in Tamil Nadu.
Heading the organisation for India and the Philippines, Vardhman Jain says that
unlike others in the solutions providing industry they are not in the 'head-counting'
game. "We are in for the long haul," says Jain.
Perot Systems has a global presence in terms of its operations that cover most
of Europe and North America. Today, it claims to be the first to set up an infrastructure
solutions set-up in Noida. In India, the solution providers have set-ups in
Chennai and Coimbatore apart from one in Bangalore and Noida. "Our goal
is to bring the technology usage from the West to India," says Jain.
With the growing market for the healthcare industry in Tamil Nadu and the talent
pool in the state for this sector on the rise apart from technically sound young
minds, Perot Systems seem to be sure that the movement of skilled labour should
not be a problem.
"It is only that the attrition rate in the back office work is on the rise
that has pushed us to Philippines where there is a steady and stable work force,"
says Jain on the company move to Manila.
Today, Coimbatore is among the few noted places that provide consistent talent
for the healthcare industry in India. Perot Systems claim to be among the few
solution providing companies in India that has moved to a tier-II city like
Coimbatore.
With contracts across the globe with Government organisations, Perot is yet
to negotiate its entry with the Government of India. "The Government needs
to bring out a drive to modernise and adapt to state-of-the-art technology in
the healthcare system to provide quality." But Perot Systems seem to be
happy with the encouragement the Indian Government and the state Government
of Tamil Nadu have given to set up its units in India.
Although in negotiations with private Indian healthcare players and various
other corporate hospitals for providing customised solutions, the response is
yet to come. "There is different maturity period for various businesses,"
says Jain on the foray of Perot into healthcare solutions, "But soon the
Apollos of the world will know that owning everything is not the right approach
for quality service in this business."
