Zoom Advanced Launched in India
An improved version of the Zoom and Zoom 2 teeth whitening
systems, Zoom Advanced claims better and faster results
After
the success of Zoom and Zoom 2, Discus Dental USA, the manufacturers of Zoom
whitening system, have recently launched the latest version of Zoom in India,
called the Zoom Advanced.
"This new lamp, Zoom! Advanced Power (ZAP), has yielded an average of eight
shades lighter but more importantly, ending shades that are B1 or better in
over 50 per cent of procedures in our clinical and field studies. That data
shows that ZAP combines relatively low sensitivity, reduced chair time and an
outstanding ability to deliver the B1 shades (as per a chromatically arranged
vita shade guide) that have come to be known as the 'wow factor'," says
Todd Cooper, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and International Sales,
Discus Dental, USA.
The latest version has been extensively worked upon with optic experts to create
a new, custom sodium-free short arc bulb, which emits the optimal bleaching
spectrum at the highest power output of any chair side whitening system.
For utilising the benefits of ZAP, dentists do not have to acquire a totally
new machine/set-up. They can simply upgrade their existing Zoom2 unit by replacing
the bulb and the attached display unit, which costs around Rs 75,000.
The Zoom light activated whitening gel's active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide.
The concentration used is 25 per cent, but a lower concentration of 16 per cent
is also available. This is much lower than the available in-office treatment
gels which have almost 35 per cent hydrogen peroxide. Lower concentration of
peroxide is known to be less sensitive.
This system has a special dual barrel delivery syringe compared to the regular
base and the catalyst pour, mix and applies systems available in the market.
The hydrogen peroxide and the activator are extruded in exact quantities and
get mixed on extrusion through the syringe tip.
As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin,
bleaching colored substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged.
The Zoom light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate
the surface of the tooth. A study has shown that use of the Zoom lamp increases
the effectiveness of the Zoom gel by 26 per cent or more, giving an average
improvement of up to eight shades in a chromatically arranged vita shade guide.
The complete procedure takes less than an hour.
Now, the question is, whether ZAP will pick up in Indian market, where many
other whitening products are already available at a cheaper price? "In
most cases, healthcare professionals in keeping with world standards and trends
go for technically superior, latest technology that is clinically proven, rated
and clinically acclaimed world over," says Maala Malik, MD, MM Dental Associates,
currently the company that is a channel partner for Discus Dental USA to provide
Zoom whitening products and equipment in India.
Patients that come in for whitening today are ambitious and lifestyle conscious
and want their teeth stain free, really white, really fast.
"With ZAP, we are much more confident of getting there, real fast, real
safe and real easy. Besides, the demand from overseas patients to avail of latest
procedure has played a major role in the advent of Zoom Advance in India"
adds Malik.
Now, the effects of ZAP will last till post procedure instructions are followed
by the patients. To keep teeth looking their best, dentists recommend flossing,
brushing twice daily, and occasional touch-ups with Zoom Weekender or Nite White
gel. "These are professional formula products designed specifically to
keep the teeth their brightest. They are available only through dental professionals,"
says Cooper.
