New Venture

Online portal on Ayurveda launched

An Indian online educational venture recently launched an informative portal on Ayurveda. The portal (www.ayushveda.com), having an expansive encyclopaedia on Ayurveda, was launched by Ayush Informatics, a company based at Panchkula in Haryana.

Said Ramesh Mehta, Director, to Express Healthcare, "This is the largest portal on Ayurveda in the world. It is meant for masses to understand Ayurveda and make use of it. Free online consultation would also be provided." He further added, "Right now, we have provided information on 500 topics. Within a few months, we would give information on 2,000 subjects with various additional value-added services and products launched worldwide."

The website covers topics right from the basics and branches of Ayurveda, explanation and usage of various herbs, correct lifestyles, pharmacology, diagnosis and types of treatments of various ailments, ancient art of yoga, massage therapy, diet regulations, panchakarma, general healthcare and many home remedies. The website also carries a vast glossary for further references and study. The content has been written, developed and sourced by Ayurvedic doctors based in Haryana, Mumbai and Gujarat.

According to Mehta, "The section called ‘iayurveda’ is a unique platform for all the doctors and practitioners in the field of Ayurveda. Here, the readers would get an opportunity to create a free webpage for their services which can serve as their resume also. They would also get a chance to write articles and post them on the net so that they can share their knowledge with others worldwide." The other features that make the site truly interactive are free newsletters, blogs, discussion forums and updated news on the field of Ayurveda.
