Jaslok Hospital upgrades its nursing college
Mumbai-based Jaslok Hospital recently upgraded its College
of Nursing. It has converted its diploma course in nursing to a four-year BSc
nursing course, recognised by India Nursing Council and affiliated to Maharashtra
University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. Subjects offered in the BSc Course
will be Biological Sciences, Behavioral Sciences and Medicine.
The selection would be on the basis of Common Entrance Test
(CET) conducted by the Maharashtra board every year. The current intake of students
is 35. Said Tressamma Sugathan, Principal, Jaslok College of Nursing, "The
feedback has been good. We are working at our full capacity." The nursing
students will be employed by the administration of Jaslok Hospital in their
own hospitals for a two-year term. Said Dr Mrudula Phadke, the Vice Chancellor
of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, and the Chief Guest at the inaguraton,
"Nurses form a great support to medical service and play a vital role in
meeting the patients' needs."
Col M Masand, Director General of Jaslok Hospital and Research
Centre added, Nurses always be compassionate and ever smiling, as this
noble profession demands selfless dedication.
