Lifecare Medical Centre introduces allergy clinic in Mumbai

Lifecare Medical Centre, a preventive healthcare centre in Mumbai, has launched a dedicated allergy clinic. The clinic deals right from counseling patients with allergy, to diagnosis, treatment and education under the guidance of allergy specialist clinicians and other consultants. Members will also receive an information pack of useful information on their particular allergy.

Said Dr Vinay Goel, Managing Director, Lifecare Medical Centre, "The highlight of the clinic is the advance blood test for various allergens, which can help detect allergy. A six-month allergy management plan would include complete monitoring of the patient performed by dedicated team. Since a complete team is involved of various specialties, any allergy condition of any system of body can be managed, thus giving complete cure rather than only one system cure.” Around 33 per cent of the population will at sometime in their life see a doctor because of an allergy and in consequence allergy testing is becoming increasingly sophisticated.

The management plan is targeted to give a definitive cure to allergy patients as it will involve follow-ups, evaluation of the allergy status, repeat tests to monitor improvement in blood levels and educating patients in long-term management with advice on lifestyle and diet management "There is no point in having an allergy test if either the patient or the doctor is not prepared to act on the results. If the results from the tests are positive and correlate with a clear and precise history, then one should gain benefit from appropriate allergy medication not only to relieve the symptoms, but also in the use of prevention medication and not least appropriate avoidance measures," concluded Dr Goel.
