Bangkok Calling

Come September and Anupam Verma, Director, Administration, P D Hinduja Hospital, will pack his bags and leave for Bangkok. We mean for a conference. He is invited by IBC Asia as a speaker to participate in 'Private Healthcare Asia Summit, 2006'. No, Verma will not be talking about medical tourism.

Verma will be speaking on 'Democratised Healthcare System In Form of Satellite Healthcare Providers' Facility'. "I will be basically talking about economies of scale for satellite centres and how one can create a value chain. The discussion will cover the ifs and buts of setting up a satellite centre," he tells us.

He clarifies that he is not going to speak about hub and spoke model, but about satellite and planet centres. "There is interconnectivity between hubs and spokes, but satellite centres are independent of the planet centre," he adds.

The discussion will not only touch India, but also other SAARC countries. What kind of research is he doing for it? "I have not started preparing for the talk yet. Much of it will be from my experience and observation," he adds.
