Penning Thoughts On Hospital Designing
Dr
Shakti Gupta, Medical Superintendent, Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic
Sciences of AIIMS, New Delhi, is ready with his fourth book- Modern Trends in
Planning and Designing of Hospitals Principles & Practice. The book is co-authored
by Dr Sunil Kant, Joint Medical Director (Personnel), Office of DG AFMS, New
Delhi and Dr R Chandrashekhar, Senior Architect, DGHS, New Delhi. The book provides
a comprehensive and holistic view of the existing and futuristic concepts in
planning and designing of hospitals. "Globally, healthcare systems are
experiencing increasing fiscal, demographic and consumer pressure. The planning,
design and the final architectural expression in the healthcare is reflective
of the gradual shift in outlook of healthcare institutions from merely treating
the sick to a concerted approach to harness healthy living," says Dr Gupta.
The book discusses existing and emerging planning concepts and trends encompassing
