Hinduja Hospital Unveils India’s First Travel Clinic

EHM News Bureau - Mumbai

P D Hinduja hospital has recently started India’s first travel clinic. As the name suggests, it is a clinic that specialises in travelers’ health requirements. The clinic will offer advice to anyone planning to travel, whether by land, air or sea and are proving to be the most convenient way for travellers to get themselves forewarned and forearmed about health dangers overseas.

Dr Tanu Singhal

Dr Tanu Singhal has been instrumental in setting up this clinic. “The hospital boasts of a team of highly-professional medical staff, keen on making people aware of the health hazards when in another country and the ways to deal with it,” said Dr Singhal, who is especially trained in travel medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.

The ideal time to pay a visit to the clinic would be four to six weeks prior to your trip as vaccines and medicines should be taken well in advance. “However, even if you plan a trip on short notice, you should visit the travel clinic as you can still benefit from our advice,” says Dr Singhal. Why does one need to visit the clinic? “Travel carries with it a certain risk of illness. Observing certain precautions and taking correct medicines and vaccines can prevent many of these illnesses. Also medical care at the destination may be difficult to find or very expensive. Hence, knowledge about emergency management of illnesses can be very handy,” Dr Singhal adds.
