Research in advanced 3-D Post-Processing techniques

EHM News Bureau - Bangalore

Teleradiology Solutions, a leading provider of teleradiology services recently announced a joint research partnership with GE Global Research, the centralised research organisation of the General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), to explore new techniques in 3D imaging analysis.

Specifically, Teleradiology Solutions will leverage its extensive knowledge in radiology to provide a clinical evaluation of the latest technologies being developed by GE Global Research in the areas of 3D advanced applications for Magnetic Resonance (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) imaging.

One area of focus is vascular imaging, where enhanced 3D visualisation of blood vessels would greatly improve the quality of healthcare by enabling doctors to more accurately diagnose and treat patients with vessel blockages, aneurysms, and other vascular pathologies in a non-invasive manner.

“3D post-processing is a powerful new tool for doctors that allows them to visualise blood vessels in the body with a high degree of clarity, non-invasively,” said Dr Arjun Kalyanpur, CEO of Teleradiology Solutions. “Many of the applications developed by the General Electric Company in Whitefield are being integrated into the GE Advantage Windows (AW) workstation and used in conjunction with the latest versions of Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners in the US, which is a matter of pride for Bangalore,”he added.

Ravi Malladi, Lab Manager, Imaging Technologies, GE Global Research, said, “We’re focused on developing the world’s most advanced 3D post processing techniques for use in MRI and CT scanners, so that doctors have the best diagnostic tools. The research collaboration with Teleradiology Solutions will help us evaluate the added clinical value our techniques will provide the medical community.”
