Conference on voice restoration after laryngectomy

Date: 22 September, 2005

Venue: West End Hotel, opposite Bombay Hospital, Mumbai.

The conference is jointly organised by Cancer Aid Foundation (CAF) and Association of Otolaryngologists of India. As part of the conference, a lecture will be delivered by Dr Peter Rhys-Evan, consultant neck and head surgeon, Royal Marsden Hospital, London on voice restoration after laryngectomy. Dr Pilloo Hakim, professor emeritus, Grant Medical College and Sir J J Group of Hospitals will preside the conference.

National conference on breast cancer

Time: 30 th September to 2 nd October 2005

Venue: Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai

Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) & Women’s Cancer Initiative (WCI) is organising a conference ‘Breast Cancer: Locoregional Control’- TMH/WCI Annual Breast Conference and 3rd Annual TMH Practicum. The theme of the conference is Breast Cancer - Locoregional Control. This conference aims to discuss various controversial issues in the locoregional control of breast cancer including surgery and radiation therapy. Various issues like sentinel node biopsy, tumor bed boost, axillary radiation, internal mammary radiation, partial breast radiation and intensity modulated radiation therapy will be discussed. We plan to have live demonstrations on the brachytherapy, treatment planning and IMRT.

The conference would cover subjects like Surgical aspects in the loco regional treatment of breast cancer (with respect to the demonstration ahead: Breast conserving therapy and sentinel node biopsy), Accelerated partial breast irradiation: a new paradigm, Live demonstration: BCT with axillary sampling BCT + Radical Implant, Radiological evaluation in BCT, Management of screen detected non palpable lesions, Pathological prognostic factors affecting loco regional control and survival, Audit of management of breast cancer from various Indian cancer centres, Which patients with breast conserving therapy can be treated on Telecobalt?, Controversies in the management of internal mammary nodal region, Dosimetric principles of planning radical brachytherapy in accelerated partial breast irradiation, Impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the loco regional control of locally advanced breast cancer, Breast conserving therapy in locally advanced breast cancer; TMH experience, Long term sequelae of breast cancer treatment, Cosmetic outcome and methods to measure it in breast conserving therapy etc.

South Asian Conference on Synergy in HealthCare Programme

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and the ministry of health, royal government of Bhutan are organising the conference “Healthcare Synergy – The Road Ahead”. National Conference on Grading, Rating, Accreditation, Certification and Evaluation of Healthcare Facilities
