Cancer Genetics Inc, US comes to India

Cancer Genetics Inc, a leading biotechnology company in the US has announced
the launch of Genetics Specialties Private Limited, in India. Novel Genetic
Diagnostic/Prognostic tools for the Indian Healthcare market was also launched
on this occasion. It is said that these tools are set to revolutionalise cancer
diagnosis in India.
Based in Bangalore, Genetics Specialties Private Limited aims to facilitate
genetic reagent technology in India and has formed a strategic alliance with
US-based Cancer Genetics & Cytotrend (Rockville, Maryland) to distribute
cancer diagnostic kits in India. Genetics Specialties will offer a complete
range of genetic diagnostic probe reagents to the Indian medical and research
communities.
The primary focus of Genetics Specialties will be to provide an accurate cancer,
infectious disease management and the monitoring of birth defects and pre-natal
wellness of the people of India. Speaking at the launch, Dr Raju S K Chaganti,
founder and chairman of the board of directors of Cancer Genetics Inc said,
It is our constant endeavour to design, develop, manufacture and market
genetic probes of the highest quality and sensitivity for the global cancer
diagnostic, disease profiling and genetic testing markets.
Peter Hartmyre, executive vice president, marketing and sales, Cancer Genetics,
Inc said, Genetics Specialties is the first to bring to market a novel
and revolutionary test for Cervical Cancer. We also aim to bring competition
and innovation to the Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia,
Acute Myloid leukemia, Sarcoma and Myelodysplasia (MDS), prenatal/ IVF and birth
defects markets.
Genetics Specialties Private Limited will be headed by Ramesh Shah, a visionary
entrepreneur, who has diverse businesses in India. Genetic Specialties will
be launching into the Indian Genetics and Pathology markets 140 new probes with
a menu that is expected to grow at 10 per cent per year over the next two years.
In the next five years, Genetic Specialties plans to become a publicly traded
pre-eminent diagnostic powerhouse offering probes and services in the areas
of genetic and infectious diseases in India and surrounding countries.
