IHCF to set accreditation system for healthcare units
Indian Healthcare Federation (IHCF), the apex body of healthcare service providers in the country, is planning to introduce an accreditation system for healthcare institutions soon. IHCF is working closely with the US-based accreditation organisation, Joint Commission International (JCI) to set the parameters of the system.
Treat brain stem death as death: Experts
Even as the law of the land considers a person dead, when brain stem--a crucial part-- is dead, leaving no scope for a revival, hospitals and nursing homes continue using life support until the patient faces molecular death (when organs stop functioning) leading to resource wastage and depriving the facility to other patients.
