A welcome step
The Maharashtra Government’s decision to shift the responsibility of screening related donors for kidney transplants onto the hospitals by revising the Transplantation of Human Organs (TOHO) Act of 1994, should be welcomed by all those concerned.

Medicine pricing: Need for an effective mechanism
Medicines play a crucial role in saving lives, restoring health, and preventing diseases and epidemics. National drug expenditure as a proportion to total health expenditure ranges from seven per cent to 66 per cent worldwide. The proportion is higher in developing countries (24-66 per cent) than in developed countries (8-30 per cent).
