Rajiv Gandhi University plans medical
college

The Rajiv Gandhi University
of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is planning to develop a
campus of its own for advanced teaching, training and
research in specialised fields of health sciences and
have its own medical college in the near future.
RGUHS has introduced degree
courses in paramedical courses and now plans to offer
post graduation in the same disciplines. In order to
set up need based medical education system,
the University is advising Medical Council of India
to restructure the curriculum.
The University plans to introduce
a bar code system for all the disciplines of health
sciences so as to ensure transparency in medical examinations.
The Universitys venture Library Consortia will
make accessible more than 600 e-journals to all its
member-medical colleges.
Our aim is to see that
all the colleges will have access to have to about more
than 2000 journals published world over. We are now
planning to extend this to dental colleges too,
says Dr R Chandrashekhara, vice chancellor. As on today
313 medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy
ayurveda, homoeopathy, unani, and paramedical colleges
in the state of Karnataka are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi
University of Health Sciences.
