Leprosy Elimination Programme and Multiple Drug
Therapy. The steep decline in incidence of leprosy
from 40 lakh in 1981 to 5 lakh in 2003 in India
has resulted in around 40 per cent vacant beds
in the the 270 leprosy hospitals and homes across
the country, point out experts.
