Diomed
Diode Laser
Chimco Bio-Medical Engineering
DIOMED
diode lasers are designed for multi-specialty application
in minimally invasive surgery, open surgery, interstitial
laser therapy and vascular applications. Operating at
a wavelength of 810nm in the near infra-red portion
of the spectrum, the DIOMED laser induces excellent
hemostasis due to its high absorption in melanin and
hemoglobin. Available
in 15W, 30W and 60W power outputs, DIOMED surgical lasers
incorporate many operator friendly features and advantages.
-
Compact and portable, they fit neatly into the doctors
office or operating suite and can be easily transported
from one clinic to another or between hospital departments.
-
Quick to set up, the laser runs from a standard electrical
wall socket and is ready for use within seconds.
-
Minimal maintenance & service requirements as
the DIOMED surgical laser is a solid state system
and has no moving parts
-
Easy to use, the menu driven user interface gives
immediate access to treatment options and continuous,
pulsed, repeat pulse or timed countdown operating
modes
-
Laser energy delivery by flexible fiber for easy access
to confined areas and compatibility with endoscopic
Instrumentation for surgical applications
-
Laser energy delivery by fixed focus handpiece for
vascular applications
Diomed 630nm PDT Laser
Diode laser
Chimco Bio-Medical Engineering
Portable,
affordable and simple to use, the DIOMED 630 PDT, the
only diode laser with FDA clearance for use with PHOTOFRIN(r)
(porfimer sodium) brings Photodynamic Therapy within
easy reach of every cancer treatment unit.
The availability of diode lasers as a user friendly
light source for Photodynamic Therapy is key for centers
who wish to develop PDT as an alternative treatment
for certain cancers. The Diomed 630 PDT diode laser
has considerable ergonomic and operational advantages
over Pulsed Dye lasers presently used in photodynamic
therapy.
-
It is an electronic instrument with software that
has preset dosimetric settings for the FDA cleared
application in lung and esophageal tumors
-
It is portable (43 lbs), runs from a standard electrical
wall socket and has air cooling, so can be used in
different locations with no need for special electrical
installations
-
The 630nm laser energy is derived from diodes, eliminating
the need for use of a chemically, enviromentally hazardous
dye
-
Purchase and running costs are significantly lower
than for Pulsed Dye lasers The FDA clearance of the
DIOMED 630 PDT is the first approval of a diode laser
for use with PHOTOFRIN(r) in PDT. This product is
available in the US, Canada and Asia/Pacific through
Axcan Pharma, distributors of PHOTOFRIN(r), with technical
support provided by Diomed.

Spot Insight
Digital Camera
Menzel
Labortechnik
Resolution:What's
the difference between Video and Digital? The Video
format limits camera resolution to 768 X 493 (0.38 mega
pixels) while digital cameras have no such restrictions.
Insight's 1600 x 1200 (1.92 mega pixel) image sensor
easily outperforms video.
Real Time Viewing: View and capture your images right
on the computer screen. Don't use separate video monitors
or small LCD screens to view your images, followed by
cumbersome transfer of image data via memory cards to
your computer.
Productivity: Can you imagine not having to take multiple
pictures to get one good shot? Can you imagine not having
to wait for film processing to see your results? With
Insight what you see is what you get and you get it
right away!
Great Images: Where is the cleanest signal? Right at
the CCD sensor. That's where Insight digitizes its signal,
not after video format conversion and a long trip down
a frame grabber cable.
Distortion Free Images: Do you need an undistorted picture?
Insight's square CCD pixels map directly to square image
pixels. The perfect geometry of the CCD is preserved
in the final image. Video cameras are subject to distortion
introduced by rectangular CCD pixels and the video signal
format. With the Insight camera, the accuracy of your
measurements is never in question.
Spot 2e
Mulipurpose Camera
Menzel
Labortechnik
The
SPOT 2e is a multipurpose camera with a
dual position color filter providing both stunning color
and high sensitivity monochrome images in low light
level situations, and the SPOT Jr., which
has a smaller resolution CCD. General Information Extremely
easy to use, stand alone software interface with image
acquisition, annotation and database archiving system
(MAC database sold separately).
Easy to use Auto Exposure and White Balance creates
spectacular images in one stroke of the computer key.
The SPOT CCD chip has a resolution of 1315 x 1033 pixels
or 1,358,395 total pixels. This is more than 4 times
the resolution of a 3CCD camera with a 640 x 480 frame
grabber (307,200 pixels). By exposing the CCD three
times (once each for red, green and blue), we are able
to get true and accurate values for each color on every
CCD pixel.
The SPOT camera gives you confidence that the pixels
in your image were measured, not interpolated. Image
comparison of SPOT (1,358,395 actual pixels) versus
a typical color digital camera (advertises almost 2
million pixels) that interpolates both pixels and color
The Peltier method is used to cool the chip to a -12
degrees celsius (at 25 degrees celsius ambient room
temperature).
This provides brilliant low light level color images
for applications such as fluorescence, polarized light,
darkfield, and high magnification work. background noise
in brightfield images is also noticeably reduced. The
software allows the user to decrease or increase the
integration time up to a maximum 17 minutes per color.
Critical focusing with the SPOT camera is done by looking
at a magnified section of the image on the computer
monitor. You are not required to look through a hard
to use (and often inaccurate) optical viewfinder. An
update rate of up to 4 times per second provided near
real time focusing. Since this image is a direct read-out
from the CCD chip, focusing is very accurate, even when
using very low magnification objectives (1.25x, 4x etc.).
Image acquisition on a Pentium 333 computer takes about
15 seconds from the time the user takes the picture
to when the image appears on the monitor. With SPOT
2e, the color filter can be removed resulting in much
shorter exposure times. Binning and region of interest
selection are also available in all three cameras to
reduce exposure time and/or readout times. The SPOT
camera digitize s each pixel as it comes off the CCD
chip in the camera head.
This gives both a lower noise image and perfect registration
of the pixels in the final image. Analog cameras that
use a framegrabber have to first convert the pixels
to an analog video output and send it to a framegrabber
board in the computer before digitization takes place.
This can result in a noisier image and poorer pixel
registration in the final image (images can look wavy
or jittery).
The SPOT cooled CCD color digital camera provides a
viable alternative to film photography and a much higher
image capture resolution than achieved by an analog
camera-framegrabber combination. The cooled CCD allows
use with standard brightfield specimens as well as low
light level or dim samples. Most of all, the SPOT camera
makes digital photography easier to perform without
the need for advanced imaging training.
