Countdown begins for HOSPIMedica India
HOSPIMedica India 2003, to be held in HITEX, Hyderabad from 14 to 16 February 2003, this year has a number of value additions, which has given a completely new dimension to this preimer event. Apollo Hospitals group is lending full support to this international exhibition by reaching out to major hospitals, clinics, private nursing homes and diagnostic centers, all over Southern India. FICCI is organising a unique conference - Indian Health Congress, parallel to the international exhibition. Their presence will ensure the involvement of top notch decision makers, from the entire medical industry. The academic content would be of very high quality, given the contemporary nature of the scientific programme. As has been the case over the years, the medical equipment and healthcare industry, has reacted very positively to HOSPIMedica India. All major players, have already booked their space and the international participation is also formidable. Group participation has been confirmed from Germany, Austria and China. From India, we have a galaxy of major players like Siemens, L&T Medical, Philips Medical, BOC India, BD India, Metalbeds etc. Doctors and specialist surgeons have always found this show to be very useful. It provides a window to the world of latest products, services and innovations, from the medical sector. The presence of a large number of international participants will help the medical community to get a glimpse of the latest technologies and practices which are being used worldwide. The conference would provide doctors with the much needed academic boost.

Seminar on evidence-based management of common cancers
Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai is organising a seminar to discuss evidence-based management of common cancers in India. “No staid 45 minutes run of the mill lectures, no reiteration of tangential and irrelevant facts. This meeting will answer very focussed questions relevant to oncology practice in India,” say the organisers. Two or three leading experts in the field will deliberate on each question for about an hour with inputs from the participants. An incisive moderator will summarize the evidence and give precise recommendations that can be followed in many parts of this country. Of note, the feasibility of the recommendations in the Indian context will be a key issue and any uncertainties will be precisely spelt out. Good ideas are likely to emerge for multi-institutional randomized studies from these uncertainties.
