BOC Medical launches premixed gas Entonox in South India

Sudha Swaminathan - Coimbatore

BOC India, manufacturer of industrial and medical gases, has introduced Entonox, a premixed gas mixture used for controlled pain relief during childbirth and also finds application in pain relief in other fields like dentistry, wound dressing etc. The company aims at popularising the concept of total gas delivery system management in hospitals. It uses remote sensing mechanism in management of medical gases in hospitals and conducts technical audits of the medical gas delivery system in order to reinforce safety aspects in the system. Speaking on Entonox, Shekhar Trivedi, national sales manager, says, “The unique feature of Entonox is that it can be self-administered through a hand held device and patients can have total control over the process.” “It was a long standing demand by a team of doctors from South India to launch the product in India. After obtaining approval from the Drug Controller of India, we launched the product in the southern states,” adds Trivedi. BOC Medical has also introduced Home Respiratory Services for long-term oxygen therapy to cater to the emerging home care segment. New Life Oxygen Concentrator produces medical oxygen at the flick of a switch and requires no refilling. It is recommended for patients suffering from COPD and other respiratory disorders. “We will take advantage of the growing homecare segment by introducing new products. Our next product in this line would be a home dialysis unit,” said Trivedi. BOC has 13 gas producing plant in India and has presence in all the major cities.

To ensure the availability of its products during emergencies, the company has introduced a mobile service, Oxyline in Bombay and Calcutta. It will be soon introduced in cities like Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.
