‘Grab N Go’ portable oxygen system launched

Vijaya K - Bangalore

Banglore-based Praxair India, leading industrial gas supplier has launched ‘Grab N Go’ portable medical oxygen system and the millenium Oxygen Concentrator for the development of mobile oxygen capabilities for its users.

The Grab N Go oxygen system is a convenient, easy to carry and cost effective oxygen cylinder with a built in regulator, flow control valve and contents gauge. This eliminates the need for a separte regulator, flow meter, cylinder wrench and special valve seal, making it ideal for hospitals and homes and is priced at Rs 12,990 with refilling costs being Rs 150. The millenium Oxygen Concentrator which costs Rs 80,000 is designed to separate high quality oxygen from natural air in hospitals or homes for patients who require oxygen and offered on rental basis to pulmonologists or individuals.

Says Indrajit Mookerjee, managing director, “Mobility is the key attribute of the Grab N Go oxygen systems and the millenium Oxygen Concentrator. It also provides a new level in healthcare technology that ensures the utmost quality, assurance and convenience for consumers.”

Praxair which foresees tremendous potential in the Indian medical business with changing life styles and growing health consciousness even in the rural areas, has been supplying medical oxygen and medical pipelines to hospitals. The company has been supplying helium for cooling the magnets in MRIs and ozone for disinfecting reusables in hospitals. “We are planning to introduce products and services for the respiratory management systems. We are also open for business partners and tie up with medical insurance companies to bring out smaller oxygen concentrators,” says Mookerjee. The Rs 10 crore healthcare division of Praxair India has formed a medical advisory council run by medical doctors who could help make people understand about the importance of medical oxygen and trace the untapped market. Praxair is the largest producer and distributor of atmospheric and speciality gases in North and South America and one of the largest players worldwide. It is a Fortune 500 company with annual sales of US $5.1 billion in 2001 and more than 35 plants in India.
