CSI to hold 54th annual conference

The 54th annual conference of Cardiological Society of India will take place in Kochi, from 1 to 4 of December, 2002.

The first day of inuguration would be followed by discussions on prevention of cardio-vascular disease on the second day. The eminent speakers are Sir Richard Peto, UK on “Tobacco related epidemic of cardiovascular disease with specific references to India,” Rory Collins on “Lipid modification and its impact”, and Peter Sleight on “Blood pressure reduction and its impact on CAD.”

The third day would have discussion on emerging therapies for combating cardiovascular disease in the new milleneium. The topics to be discussed are imaging techniques for detection of pre-clinical artherosclerosis by Stephan Achenbach, human genome project and its impact on management of cardiovasuclar disease by Robert Roberts, and resynchronization therapy for heart failure by Angelo Auricchio.

Organising Secretary, CSI-2002, Dr R J Manjuran said, “The steering committee of CSI is doing its best to see that our valued guests are fully comfortable during the conference sojourn at Kochi.”
