TISS gears up for Clairvoyance

The campus of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is gearing up for their annual seminar on healthcare management, ‘Clairvoyance’ to be held on 7 and 8 December.

This time the central theme is ‘Health care Management— At its Crossroads’ that will encompass all the prime issues concerned with the present Healthcare System in India and impact of globalization on it.

First day will deal with ‘Health systems in India: Have they come of age?’ and ‘Health Financing: Newer Tools, Better Control.’ The next day will focus on ‘Hospital Management’. The sessions planned are: ’Healthcare Horizons: What lies beyond?’ This session will explore newer avenues opening up for Hospital industry with the dawn of new millennium, such as satellite clinics, franchising, with the proliferation of private players in the industry. ‘Financing in Healthcare: Scaling new heights’, will unfold the changing scenario in the Healthcare industry with newer endeavors such as private insurance, venture capital, ‘The Science of Management perfects the art of Healthcare’ will discuss the role that quality, and the scientific management techniques such as six sigma, balanced scorecard play in perfecting the art of healthcare. Last day of the seminar will end with the hottest topic for today, ‘Bridging gaps, Building new alliances’; which will hold discussion on current buzzword in the industry ‘public-private merger’.

TISS has played a pioneering role in extending management beyond the realms of business and industries to areas of social relevance such as public health administration, hospital administration, personnel management, and labour relations.
