Total solution for biopsy

Here is good news for medical professionals. The task of taking samples for biopsy is now made easy and more accurate by a new generation end-cutting device called BioPince. Manufactured by Amedic of Sweden, BioPince is a fully disposable biopsy gun that uses a totally new and unique end-cut technology to produce better samples, compared to conventional side-notch technology.

A BioPince sample is cylindrical, with full length and with more tissue volume. And it is uncrushed and coherent with crisp, concise edges to be compared with side-notch samples where the sampling area is first penetrated and crushed by the stylet before it is cut. This is in accordance with the objective of BioPince to deliver an optimal sample with an easy, safe and atraumatic way.

BioPince is exceptionally easy to use and does not require any special skills to take and retrieve a tissue sample with higher diagnostic quality. The unique BioPince introducer needle allows for biopsy procedures under CT-guidance as wells as guidance procedures with multiple entries. The variable stroke length (13,23 or 33 mm) can be adjusted between every needle pass. This feature increases flexibility and precision thus enables stocking of fewer types of guns.

The BioPince stroke is probably the strongest among biopsy guns, further improving core quality, mainly in hard or small targets and for short throws where extra force is needed to accelerate the needle properly.

Since BioPince sample is the size of full cannula width it results in 59% more potential cross section area as well as 25% more potential diagnostic area. (See diagram) With BioPince, medical professionals have what they always wanted more tissue with a greater diagnostic value, from the exact spot, with ease and complete safety. Here is a comparative study of features of BioPince and the other available biopsy device in the market. (See table)
