Extra emphasis on ayurveda in National Health Policy: Thakur
Ghazipur: The ayurvedic system of medicine has been given extra emphasis in the National Health Policy to increase the business based on it, union health and welfare minister, C P Thakur has said. The health ministry wants to increase the business based on ayurveda system of medicine from present Rs 400 crore to Rs 10,000 crore annually.

TCS’ health portal introduces new services
Mumbai: Webhealthcentre.com, Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) health portal has introduced three new services viz. an online appointment service, online laboratory reports service and a mobile health directory for its viewers.

These services are based on the .Net framework developed by Microsoft, which allows computer applications to communicate and share data on the Internet irrespective of the programming language or operating system. The services, also called web services, allow interaction between the patients, doctors, hospitals and laboratories. These can be accessed on any medium like a mobile phone and also the handheld I-pac device.

Satyam to invest $1m in online medical research venture
Mumbai: Satyam Computer Services Ltd recently tied up with Johns Hopkins University, Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation and Meditronic to invest in MedBiquitous Services. The initial investment of the company in the venture would be $1m.

MedBiquitous is an integral part of Johns Hopkins’ initiative to create and deploy vibrant online communities for professional medical societies with the MedBiquitous Triad, which includes its consortium and laboratory. Working in partnership with medical societies, MedBiquitous builds, hosts and manages online comunities for professional medical societies across the globe. While Johns Hopkins is among the top hospitals in the US, Medtronic is a leader in medical technology, providing solutions for people suffering from chronic diseases.
