seminar held

Laparoscopy,
Surgery and Endoscopy in the new millennium, was the central
theme of a three-day seminar that was held recently by the Asian
Institute of Gastroenterology of Medinova Diagnostic services Ltd,
which is credited for having the largest number of therapeutic endoscopic
and biliary-pancreatic procedures in Asia.
Dr
S C Sydney Chung of the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong, inaugurated
the meeting by switching on a computer which gave a multimedia presentation
on the theme of the seminar. Dr Chung in his inaugural address,
complimented the AIG for convening the conference. It indicated
the institutes dedication to research and education to benefit
people, Chung said.
Dr
Shrikhande of the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, Mumbai,
in his guest lecture stressed the need for doctors to uphold the
motto of service. The international faculty included Dr W Peter
Geis of St Peters University Hospital, USA, Dr Joseph B Patelin,
Kansas, USA, Dr Munemasa Ryu and Dr Akhiro Cho from Chiba Prefectural
Sawara Hospital, Japan, besides Dr Chung. Those who spoke at the
inaugural included Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, course chairman, Dr G V
Rao, course director and Dr S S Reddy, advisory committee member.
