Case against OsmaniaUniversity

The police has registered a case under prevention of insult to National honour act against the Osmania University for allegedly unfurling a ’damaged’ tricolour on the Independence Day here.

Police said, students owing allegance to Akhil Bharathi Vidyarthi Parishad lodged a complaint that a damaged flag was unfurled by the vice-chancellor on the arts college building. A case is booked under section 2 of the prevention ofinsult to National Honour Act, 1971 and investigation taken up, they said.

“We are probing whether the act was intentional orunintentional,” police added.
